Beyond the academy
Back in the late '90s, I participated in a 24 hour prayer vigil at Regent College to pray for all aspects of Regent College. Our writer-in-residence Luci Shaw (then serving on the Board), was in my group. To this day, I recall her prayer that specifically asked the Lord to raise up the next generation of female scholars.
This past spring, my TA Daniel Martinez (MA Theol. Studies '14) started noticing news and updates on some of our younger female scholars. He proposed that we feature these women in the Mosaic Newsletter, not knowing that I had the exact same idea. And so we hope you'll enjoy reading these stories from just a few of the women who are involved in multi-disciplined fields, breaking ground in Theology, Victorian Literature, Counselling, Biblical Studies, Education/Pedagogy, Byzantine Music and beyond. Remembering Luci's prayer, let's give thanks to God for raising up these thoughtful, articulate, and godly scholars, as well as the many more called to serve in diverse communities.
